Peyrefitte also went on a tirade of sorts about the PUP's performance since November 11th. He believes that the UDP have a good chance at winning at the polls on March 3rd simply because the electorate is disappointed:
Michael Peyrefitte, Senator
"The government since November 11 has shown that a super majority means nothing. As I said before and I'll say it again, they seem to be feeling their way. They seem to not be able to know the job that the ask the people of Belize for and quite frankly, they're fumbling and I think on March 3rd the people will send a message to Belmopan and let them know that even though we voted for you overwhelmingly on November 11 of last year, we are prepared to let you know that we're not happy and that's the message we're getting from the people and that's what we except to happen on March 3rd. You come into government and you claim that when you were in opposition what had to have happened was that the government needed to grow the economy, you come in and your plan is to fire people, your plan is to cut wages, your plan, according to you, would have grown this economy tenfold, would have grown this economy by leaps and bounds. Where is that plan? It turns out that their COVID plan for example is no different from our plan, it's our plan, except for that brilliant show called Ask the Experts, they don't seem to be able to replicate that one but other than that what's their plan? They can't even get vaccines, Barbados is getting vaccines, Jamaicans is getting vaccines, how come we're not getting vaccine? Or not even commitment of the level of vaccines of these other countries are, they are not up to the task, they are not up to the job. And that all I'll say."
And contrary to the PM Briceno's statements that the government is broke due to the UDP spending, the UDP chairman said that they shouldn't complain as much as deliver what they promised:
Michael Peyrefitte, Senator
"They promised the world, they claimed that they would fix it in one week, they claimed that they would fix it right away. All it shows that they have no plan, it's almost as if they didn't expect to be elected and now that they are elected, they frightened. They can try to blame the UDP all they want because they're still finding millions to buy vehicle, they're still finding millions to do roads, they're still coming with appropriation bills to the house and the senate for millions that they need and millions that they would get, so what do you mean that the government is broke? That is absolute nonsense, I have to take the words of Said Musa, and don't let them tell you the government is broke, the government is not broke, the taxes are performing aren't they so they inherited a healthy economy, and indeed the past prime minister told them that whoever took over would be facing a tough situation and decision would have to be made, it seems as though they are not ready for those decisions, it seems as if though they are not up to he job that they begged the Belizean people for, a job that they claimed would be easy as 123, it is turning out that all those times they criticized Mr Barrow and criticized the UDP, running the country and a government is not an easy job. It's a job for women and men not girls and boys and they are finding out how tough it is to run an economy, one clearly that they're not capable of doing."
