On Friday we told you about the kerfuffle at the Ministry of Health and Wellness where the Senior Financial Officer, and two accounts clerk were transferred or designated for transfer.
Reports from the PSU say they had differences with senior staff at the Ministry including. not having budgets available as requested.
But, the PSU Vice President told us that there was subtext to the dispute with the Senior F-O - a public officer with over 25 years of service being designated for transfer.
The PSU vice president says she had had been having some differences with Minister Michel Chebat over charges for vehicle use. This conflicts with a directive from the Financial Secretary that any minister - like Chebat - who uses his own vehicle is paid a vehicle allowance of $1,350.00 and cannot make claims above that.
Flowers says this had been the source of some dispute between them:
Dean Flowers, FIRST VICE PRESIDENT - PSU
"The FS was clear, that ministries ought not to be paying for Ministers' personal vehicle because Ministers who don't have a government vehicle will be provided with a motor vehicle allowance of $1,350. Minister Chebat has 3 invoices that he wants paid by the Ministry for his personal vehicle. And so while the conversation this morning surrounded the budget, and perhaps the FO not doing or submitting to him the budget as he claims he had requested it seemed to be that it surrounded the payment of those three invoices for his personal vehicle, when in fact the FS has approved a motor vehicle allowance for him."
We did reach out to Minister Chebat for comment on this - and he sort of scoffed at the allegation and said "we should know better than that."
