Switching gears now...

This evening, Belizeans tuned in to the second match for the national football team who are trying to advance to the second round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

This was an important match for the Jaguars, who were trying to recover from last week's loss to the Haitian National Team and notch 3 points with a win. Their opponent for game 2 was the national team from Turks and Caicos Island, which lost their first match to Nicaragua, 7 to nil.

Kick-off for this game happened at 3 p.m. Belize time at the Pan Americano Stadium in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.

The first half was mostly uneventful, but Belizean fans immediately took notice of the fact that the Jaguars were holding on to possession of the ball a lot more than in last week's game. Both sides had to play strong defense to fend off attacks from each other.

Belize's Carlos Bernardez managed to score the first goal of the match during the 3rd minute of injury time after 45 minutes had elapsed.

That gave Team Belize momentum for the second half, and by the 47th minute, Belize's Jesse August scored the second goal. One minute later, Carlos Bernardez scored his second goal, bringing the score to 3-Nil in Belize's favor.

After that, the two teams battled back and forth for possession, but Team Belize kept the pressure up, and by the Eighty-first minute, Deshawn Nembhard scored for Belize.

The fifth and final goal of the match was scored during injury time after the ninetieth minute had passed. That one was nudged in by Co-Captain Deon McCaulay, and when the final whistle was blown, Belize won the game 5 to zero
