Reports reaching 7News tonight is that one of the court battles between Police Corporal Eldon Arzu, his boss, Police Commissioner Chester Williams has ended. And, Arzu's camp is asserting that Justice Westmin James' decision from today has vindicated his position.

It's a case that dates back to 2019 in which Arzu complained that he should have been allowed to serve as the Chairman of the Central Board of the Police Association. Arzu claimed that the Commissioner used his office to block him from holding the position.

In that case, Arzu claimed that in January 2019, his slate won 4 seats in the elections for Police Association. His opponent, Inspector Jane Usher, won 3, and after the elected members consulted each other, it was agreed that Arzu would serve as the Chairman. Arzu went on to claim that the Police Commissioner enforced an amendment that he made to the Police Association's constitution. That's the change that no Chairman can serve more than 2 terms in office.

Since Arzu's first chairmanship began back in 2013, he asserted that the Commissioner attempted to make the amendment retroactive, which meant that Arzu couldn't serve in 2019. Arzu claimed that the Commissioner did everything he could to block his leadership using the retroactivity of this amendment.

Late evening reports to 7News are that Justice James has ruled in Arzu's favor for the majority of his alleged injustices.

We also contacted Police Commissioner Chester Williams for comment, and via telephone, he told us, quote, "All I am going to say to you is that we are going to appeal that matter." End quote.

We hope to have more details for you on the outcome of this case in tomorrow's newscast.
