And another area that needs urgent attention but is getting none…is the issue of the Integrity Commission. What the PUP opposition has called a toothless tiger - has now gone extinct since they took office.
But, worry not, the PM says he'll name a Commission, soon:
Reporter
"Sir, your government when in opposition has long criticize the UDP for not having an active integrity commission, but right now 7 months into office you haven't named an integrity commission. When will you do so?"
Hon. John Briceno, Prime Minister of Belize
"Well, we could not have named an integrity commission because the chairperson refused to resign. That person finally resigned, so now we are in the process of naming a new integrity commission. I want to say that by next week we should be able to name it, simply because again I am trying to find more women. I am trying to promote as much women as I possibly can. I'm trying to look for a woman that has some kind of financial background and also experience that would be able to take up that mantle."
