Who will lead the UDP? The party remains in suspended animation tonight - and there's another twist in the tale. Shyne Barrow, who is the leader of the opposition in the Parliament today challenged Patrick Faber, who leads the UDP as a party. Both have been dogged by allegations of domestic abuse - and Shyne today threw down the gauntlet. He appeared on a morning how and said that if Faber steps down as leader of the UDP, he will also step down as Leader of the opposition in Parliament.
And while this happens - there is much speculation about the eleventh amendment to the constitution which the government is taking to the house on Friday. It seeks to "provide additional grounds for the disqualification of a person as a member of the national assembly...". This expands on the part of the constitution dealing with persons who have served criminal sentences in the commonwealth - and there is some speculation that down the road this could be used to target Shyne Barrow. He has denied this...we'll see on Friday.
