The new SI just dropped and it clears up some questions that the public may have had. While you may have been hoping the curfew hour would change, you're out of luck. Starting Monday at midnight, the curfew begins at 7pm until 4am the following morning. That is of course with the exception of Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, Hopkins Village and the Placencia Peninsula - the last one includes Riversdale, Maya Bach, Seine Bight, and Placencia. Their curfew begins at 9pm. For minors, the curfew starts at 6 unless they are with a parent or guardian.
And September 26th and October 3rd will be no-movement days but you CAN move if you're purchasing food supplies, fuel or pharmaceutical drugs; going to the hospital or vet; for emergencies which are unspecified in the SI; if you're an essential workers or an employee of a business allowed to operate; a home-healthcare provider going to work; or if you're travelling to or from the PGIA.
And as for those businesses allowed to operate, they are fuel stations, pharmacies, grocery stores, medical and veterinary institutions, businesses that provide public transportation and hotels and resorts but only for the purpose of servicing guests who are arriving from PGIA or are already staying at the hotel or resort. We note that while food supplies are on the list of essential movements, restaurants were not listed in the businesses allowed to open.
And for essential services, those include those under Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Border Management and Immigration Services, Customs and Excise Department, vets and hospitals, public utility workers and auxiliary staff along with social workers responding to emergencies, sanitation workers, productive sector industries, Belize Port Authority, The National Fire Service, BEL, BWS, BTL, SMART, Department of Civil Aviation and BPO's.
