Persistent reports says there are going to be changes in the senior command of the Police Department - but the Commissioner denies it.
Today we asked Commissioner Chester Williams about reports that ACP Marco Vidal will no longer be head of operations and will be replaced by ACP Alford Grinage. Williams said there will be no changes in the Senior Command at this time.
But, we do know that Grinage has finished his time as the Commander of the Joint Intelligence Operation Centre - JIOC - and that command has been handed over to the Coast Guard. Grinage is now at headquarters in Belmopan. We also know that ACP Vidal was seen exiting a number of police blogs and chat groups - which suggests that he might no longer be involved operationally. Again, Compol Williams denies any changes.
The Police Department will also soon be looking for a new Deputy Commissioner as the man now in the number two spot, Edward Broaster is set to retire at the end of the year.
