But what will Saldivar do differently in the next election?
He's set to face off against the other man who famously posed for pictures with Lev Dermen, former Mayor of Belmopan Khalid Belisle.
Sitting on the Sunup couch Saldivar seemed confident in his ability to defeat the young upstart when that time comes, but we asked him what it would mean if Khalid were to win.
Host
"We're talking about your political career and we are talking about your major opponent Mr. Belisle so what happens if you go back to the polls and if he wins?"
John Saldivar, Political Candidate
"That would be the end of my political career but it would not be the end of my involvement in politics. I would still continue to work for my party and to ensure that the next election and many elections after that, that we would win but of course I am hoping for a good positive outcome for me and I do believe that that's where we are headed at this time."
Of course, we'll bring you the results of that race during the next general election.
