And the UDP aren't the only ones upset with the government. The Joint Union Negotiating Team - which is inclusive of the PSU, BNTU, and the APSSM - has been in constant engagement with the government to discuss the reinstituting of the 10% salary adjustment, and other matters. In a press release today, the JUNT explained that the government has scheduled a meeting for January 12th, and that the unions had asked for certain information to be provided by December 23rd. They feel that the information they requested should have been readily available since it was recently reported to the Social Advisory Committee.
But their grievance is that up to now, they still haven't gotten the requested information, which includes A copy of Governments' fiscal strategy statement for the present fiscal; A mid-year report detailing government's actual receipts for the past 6 months; A mid-year report detailing government's actual expenses for the past 6 months; Payments of interest or amounts in the nature of interest on debt owed by the Government and for expected repayment of debt principal; Details and amount of all public grants; and more.
The release ends by saying, quote, "Whilst Government failed and continues to fail in providing us with the requested information by the stipulated date, the JUNT remains hopeful and resolute in its request for the necessary information in an effort to engage in meaningful dialogue with Government and subsequently with Public Sector Workers."
