And since it's likely that Hyde was re-elected on that tempting promise of land for lawmen and women, we wanted to find how he plans to deliver on that promise.

This evening he told us that he remains committed to the promise of providing land but that, unfortunately for the department, police officers are second in line behind teachers.

Sgt. Jermaine Hyde
"I think in the interview yesterday I mentioned that we had done phase 1 and 2 of it already where we had received over 400 plus applications from police officers. These applications were forward to the Ministry of Natural Resources and presently awaiting a response from them in terms of when and how these lands will be distributed. I know that we, myself and members of the central board we did had a meeting about 2 weeks ago with the minister and he did mentioned to us that yes he would do his best to make sure that police officers and I know you guys in the media heard that the teachers are already in process of getting theirs, so he did mentioned to us that the teachers best us to it in terms of their applications went in first, so they are at the top right now and as soon as he have issued to the teachers, we would be right behind."

The officers have made recommendations as to where they hope the land will be located and according to Hyde the Lands Department is now doing research to see whether the land in those areas is available.
