Things got tense at the DFC main office in Belmopan today when three workers - who were sent home with letters of redundancy yesterday - showed up at work as usual this morning.

And that's because they have a labour dispute. The employees' union reps say that the DFC is not following the proper process to declare someone redundant - and that's why they did not accept the notice of dismissal.

And that's why the three employee came right back to work as usual today - but they were then instructed by management to leave the building - which they did on their own - and without security being called in - according to a Union rep.

But, the union is not happy with the management for dismissing 5 persons due to redundancy since June. So, during their lunch hour today they held a "singing demonstration" - saying "solidarity forever." We have footage of that courtesy PLUS TV.

The union said it got involved when the now former workers were being asked to leave this morning, and also requested that members please comply with the instructions - even though they feel their dismissal is unlawful.

They will now take that complaint to the labour office in Belmopan tomorrow - along with their union leaders from the CWU. We'll let you know how that goes.
