And in other news, reports say the former ombudsman, Lionel Arzu, has successfully sued the government for lost allowances during their salary cuts. While the acting PM didn't have any information about this court case, he did muse that it is interesting and he will be looking into it more - especially since this may lead to other contract officers following Arzu's precedent.

"You are giving me news and I'm not prepared to comment on that just yet, first time I'm hearing about that. But I imagine that will be an interesting thing going forward the government has a lot of contract officers but a contract officer is a special privilege Belizeans get with the government so my impression at the time was that there was, even if not totally willing, that ultimately people went along with it but you're giving me news so have to wait until I get the details on that and until the government takes a good long look at that and see what we decide to go going forward with that."
