Three weeks ago, the UDP National Party Council laid down the hard line - no public criticism of the party - especially using social media platforms. Former party leader Patrick Faber continues to be in open defiance of that directive - and now the party's Deputy Chairman Alberto August is accused of doing the same.
Yesterday he got a letter from his own chairman Mike Peyrefitte to tell him, quote, "Our investigation has determined that your public criticisms of the Party and members violate the Constitution and directive of the NPC passed August 20, 2022."
The Chairman points to Facebook posts that August made in the last months which are, quote, "destructive and disruptive" violates the Party Constitution.
So, August has been directed to respond in writing to these charges within 7 days, and face a hearing before the party's Ethics Committee.
Strong talk - and it sounds like another party member headed for the executive guillotine, but August seems like he could hardly care. In an email back to the party he says, "You can take that (expletive and put it) where the sun does not shine."
