And while we had him before us - we asked Elrington why he punked us last week. On Wednesday, he gave Jules Vasquez an interview saying he wouldn't run for the UDP in Freetown this time - and then by Friday his name was right there on the list of applicants for standard bearer. Jules Vasquez asked him about that Freetown flip flop today:

Jules Vasquez
"8 days ago, you told me you are not running for Freetown. I was so disappointed, fallen, let-down - I felt I've been hoodwinked, lead astray and bamboozled when I saw you name on the list. You are running. Why you set me up like that and why you lied to me?"

OJ Elrington, UDP Aspirant, Freetown Division

"Jules, I think that I should blame you, because it was after your interview I received as I explained to you, to say quite a number of calls would be an understatement. Was a bevy of calls and they plead with me to at least submit my name and to seriously allow for a greater time for me to make my final decision as to whether or not."

"You remember Michael Jordan mi retired 3 times you know. He is the greatest of all time, so don't hold it against me. But in all fairness, the truth is that there are several considerations the least of which I am committed to serving my country, to serving my party and ultimately, I am a team player and whatever is the consensus of what would be the best position for me to play. It is right now I have been convinced that my party needs me and it is for that reason that I submitted my name. Again, because of you."
