And while MIDH is planning to hit the 250 mark before the end of the fiscal year, they're hoping that their budget for the next one will allow them to build a lot more houses. According to Minister Espat, he's expecting - and hoping for - a major increase once the budget is announced.

Julius Espat, Minister of Infrastructure Development & Housing

"It's been lots of lobbying, remember we had a target that was far more than we have right now but we worked within the budget that government allocated to us, the Ministry of Finance in their wisdom decides how to share the pie. We had to prove to them in the first two years that what we said we would do, we would do and we were efficient in it, we have shown them that everything we have proposed, we have completed and so I think that gave Cabinet and the prime minister to be able to give us more financing to continue. But as I said, 5 or 15 million compared to 1.4 billion dollars is not a lot when you look at percentage wise, but for us, it's 5 million more than we had before, and now it will be 15 more than we had before, so we will work with what we have."
