The last time you heard about Maya Center, they'd been celebrating a win after Ministers Oscar Requena and Rodwell Ferguson agreed that the current water board will be allowed to finish their term. The contention arose when the village chairman's brother was appointed as the water board chairman before the term for the existing members was up. The residents said it was a disruptive political appointment and protested against it.
But even though the ministers agreed with the current board during a meeting, it hasn't been cemented in black and white. That's why the members of the board and other supporting residents held a virtual press conference today to explain that the matter hasn't been fully settled yet.
Saqui said that they are confident that the minister will keep his word, but emphasized that the sooner, the better.
