But when we tried to ask the UDP chairman about the status of Patrick Faber, and the obvious divide between him and the party leader, he - perhaps for the first time - deflected. He'd never admit it, of course, but he refused to tackle the issue head on, choosing instead to divert to the PUP and the ongoing protest. Here's the back and forth he had with the media.

Micheal Peyrefitte, Chairman, UDP
"We don't want to switch up at all. Today is about the PUP and letting the PUP know how the people feel about them. There are mechanisms for things like that within the UDP and the party and if people want to exercise that they can."

"But today we will not be distracted by that. Today, today we will let the PUP know that people are not happy with them. I won't be distracted by that."

Reporter
"Where is your support stand though?"

Micheal Peyrefitte, Chairman, UDP
"With what?"

Reporter
"In terms of Mr. Faber and Mr. Shyne."

Micheal Peyrefitte, Chairman, UDP
"I support the United Democratic Party."

Reporter
"It's obvious that there are issues now that there will be issues that move from this. Some people say that they anticipated this going to court."

Micheal Peyrefitte, Chairman, UDP
"Issues with the UDP? Have you ever heard that before? We are not new to this. We are true to this. This is just one other issue. It's not a big deal. It's not for anybody to throw up in the roadblocks."

"The solution will organically develop. To think about it and dwell about it, it's not going to solve anything. I mean, it's a minor thing. Slighters. We deal with bigger than...."

Reporter
"What do the mechanisms look like in terms of triggering a by-elections in collet?"

Micheal Peyrefitte, Chairman, UDP
"What? How do you reach there, my friend? Let me pull an old say."

Reporter
"He was hasty, sir."

Micheal Peyrefitte, Chairman, UDP
"We are not there yet and we are not talking about that today. We are talking about the PUP and the protest we have today. What happened is that we are democratic. We don't have a situation where a mayor can say endorse me or I won't run at all and then the party have to force somebody to step down. No, we allow voices to be heard."

"And when voices are heard, especially when those voices are strong, you will have issues. But that's fine."

Reporter
"Jones was not forced to step down for Faber?"

Micheal Peyrefitte, Chairman, UDP
"No, you can ask him. Ask Pollard if they forced him. Ask Alan Pollard if they forced him."
