On Monday we told you that the Ministry of Home Affairs' new CEO was Sharole Saldivar Carr. According to the minister, she's worked alongside their team for a while, so she will be able to continue the work that Kevin Arthurs started.
Musa also thanked Dawson for his services and spoke more about the work that he did in the past three years.
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"As you know I am filled with gratitude to Kevin for offering himself, I think he did an exceptional job in the three years in transforming really the culture within the police department, as you know, we want to create a community based approach that is really bolstered by innovation and technology, and at the same time raising the level, raising the bar for police officers in the country because at the end of the day but know how important it is to rebuild that trust with the public and so I think putting in place these policies, he did an exceptional job in just three years and in large part, assisted with this LIU concept that has now taken off and contributes greatly in crime that we've seen specifically here in Belize City."
Courtney Menzies:
"Can we talk about the selection of the new CEO, especially because she's the first woman, I believe, of any Home Affairs or National Security Ministry?"
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"Yes I'm very excited by our new Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ms Sharole Saldivar Carr. Ms Sharole is no stranger to our ministry, she actually has been with our ministry for the last year working along with the LIU in partnership firstly with Mr William Dawson and then now Chairlady Dominique Noralez, and she was really the national coordinator and her strength no doubt is public management, public administration, that's where she has her degree, and she's actually finishing up her Master's Degree in project management and so we are all excited, she enjoys the full support of the staff at the ministry as well as within the police department, the level of respect that they have for her especially all that she did with the LIU, we're truly grateful for that, and now to see her elevated in this post so we look forward to great things from Sharole."
