The BNTU has also weighed in on this issue saying it, quote, "wishes to register its support to the sugar cane farmers of the North, many of whom are also BNTU members, who have been requesting a formalized document that outlines palatable terms of agreement with ASR/BSI for this current and future crop seasons.

It has been far too long that the cries of our cañeros are seemingly being ignored. We therefore wish to call on the Government of Belize to engage meaningfully to assist in this process so as to ensure that the interests of our people are adequately considered" End quote.
