And, finally tonight, some political commentary which sound a lot like political humor. Today at the end of his press briefing we asked the UDP Chairman if he would accept the following challenge: that if the UDP loses big in the upcoming March 6th municipal election, would he then step down?

Here's how that exchange went:

Jules Vasquez:
"But if the UDP fails at the polls as it did in 2021, which was an ABJECT perhaps historic failure, are you prepared to resign as chairman being that the chairman is responsible for whipping up the troops and organizing the effort for any election?"

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman

"Well, unlike you, I don't distress myself with dark imaginings. The UDP will be successful on March sixth. We believe that the people out here are angry; we believe that the people out here are seeing clearly that the pope has been just an abject failure. And so with the cost of living, the high cost of living, with the be visible corruption with them not doing one single thing since they came to government in 2020."

"I don't know who's talking to them, but the people are telling us that they are fed up with this government and the PUP must go."

"So that's our thinking. That's our thinking. And, you know, that's the only thing that we feel at this point."

Jules Vasquez:
"So what qualifies as a success for you? What would you consider success? I mean, if you have two seats, if you improve by two more seats, that's 100% improvement."

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"Da bout 64 seats up for grabs, right?"

Jules Vasquez:
"Right now it's 67. The UDP currently has two, the PUP has 65."

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"Yeah, about that. Yes. So we're putting it in total: anything less than all would be a failure for us. We expect to sweep the board. That's our mentality going in. We're going into the March 6th election not saying, oh, we plan to win this one, and we plan to lose that. We plan to win all. There's not a single candidate that we don't expect to get elected on March sixth. That's the way I feel"

Jules Vasquez:
"You are projecting a political fantasy is this part of your leader's manifestation approach?"

Jules Vasquez:
"But let me live in my fantasies. And if that's what you want to call it, that's how I feel. You can change how I feel."
