And the Leader of the Opposition's speech was followed up by the DPM, Cordel Hyde, who started off with a few jokes at the UDP's expense.

He rebutted Barrow's speech by saying that while he may seem confident, he's also a bit delusional.

Here's a snippet of that speech - which was given in front of a desolate opposition bench since Barrow left immediately after his speech.

Cordel Hyde, Lake Independence

"We had to listen for the member talk about what the UDP will do, that they will do this and they will do that and they will do this and they will do that. And I wondered whether he was here the last 13 plus years when they were in government, when they had all the time in the world to do all these things."

"The great Cat Williams says that to be confident and not delusional is a great skill. Someone sent me an advertisement last night where the UDP was recounting all the gains that they made since 2021 and I wanted to know which gains."

"Which gains? You see the gains? Where are the gains? I don't know that these people are of this world. Ultimately, if you ask Cat Williams, he would say that, he would repeat that to be confident and not delusional is a great skill that the member for Mesopotamia does not have."

"You would have expected that this guy, you would have expected that the member would have come here with some introspection, some looking in the mirror, some analysis of what went wrong and what they could have done differently and apologize to the Belizean people because really what we just listened to suggested as if though the people owed them an apology for not voting for them."

"Something is wrong there. But I promise myself, Madam Speaker, I won't talk about these people here today, right? Because on March 6th, the people were very clear that we we're supposed to stay pan track."

"Before the elections, the leader of the opposition said that they were going to win six. But he really meant that they were going to win six seats out of 67, not six municipalities. He's very confused."

"But it's expected they will attack and oppose. That's what they do well. But Madam Speaker, they count rice, but we plant rice. They marvel at stones, but we are the head cornerstone. We hear them, as we should."

"That's their constitutional responsibility. But the times require much greater from us."

Patrick Faber did arrive on the UDP bench later on in the session.
