The Belize Peace Movement was back in the High Court today fighting to somehow trigger a re-districting exercise. Their last attempt resulted in a report which is languishing in the parliament. So today the BPM's attorney went back to court still trying to achieve their objective WHICH IS to make the 31 divisions of Belize "nearly as may be an equal number of persons eligible to vote".
And since the court cannot order parliament to do it - the Peace Movement is now trying to make an end run around the entire system by asking the court to throw out "schedule one" of the Representation of the People's Act. That's the schedule which defines all the constituency boundaries. After today's hearing, their attorney Arthur Saldivar Explained:
Justice Nadine Nabie has deferred judgement.
