Last week we told you that Allan Pollard's Port Loyola candidacy was shut down before it even started - when he was barred from challenging a sitting area rep, Gilroy Usher.

Meanwhile, in Corozal Bay, the current area rep will be challenged by the daughter of PM Briceno's CEO.

We asked Minister Musa if he'll be supporting Elvia Vega like he did after David Dido Vega's death, and whether he thinks she should've gotten the same treatment as Pollard.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs

"We've been specifically asked, meaning parliamentarians, to stay out of the contested conventions but I think Honorable Elvi has done a wonderful job for the good people of Corozal Bay and at the end of the day, I am sure we will be getting excellent representation coming out of the bay."

Courtney Menzies:
"In the same way that Mr Usher was spared contest because Mr Pollard wanted to run against him, should Elvia had been spared in the same way?"

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"That is a matter for the National Campaign Committee, unfortunately I do not sit on that committee, I do not hear the deliberations of that committee but I am told that they made sometimes last week and that decision was made."
