And self styled Land Activist Nigel Petillo isn't waiting for the UB Board to meet. He's moving ahead with a protest planned for Friday in front of the Prime Minister's office.
That will be preceded on Thursday by a town hall style meeting on Zoom where the Belizean public and the diaspora are invited to join to discuss the land purchase.
Petillo told us via Zoom today what he's pushing for:
Nigel Petillo, Land activist
"It irks me, it make feel a way. And so I thought that rather than for us to just be talking, talking, and discuss the frustration amongst each other, we need to act. And so this demonstration, I believe should be one in many to come."

"We want accountability. We want to know why is it that this, that was the only route. And so we need to find out from the government as to why they thought that that was the best route forward."
Jules Vasquez
"Will any answer satisfy you? I believe the government has put out a very clear press release on why the UB land was unsuitable."
Nigel Petillo, Land activist
"As you can see I am not satisfied."
"Some of the issues that we found was like you rightly said that there is a sewer in the area. That sewer have been affecting portions of Belmopan for years now. So that is not satisfactory. Hence the reason we need to have a protest. We need to have all stakeholders involved. I'm still waiting to hear from the different unions."
"I'm still hoping to hear from different organizations and individuals who claim that they care about Belize and I think that this is an issue that we definitely have to discuss."
