We also asked Shal as CEO of Labour about whether Call Centers are really essential services. NEMO has been putting that in its storm watch press releases since 2022, but according to the official schedule of essential services call centers are not on that list.
Shal tried to steer around the contradiction today:

"The essential services that currently exist in law has to do with the right to strike. Whether or not it also addresses the issue of disaster is an open question that needs to be answered so they are two different things but those are things that we begin to talk about with the national coordinator for NEMO and we will clarify those issues at a later date yeah."
"But should a call center be deemed as an essential service?"
"Well at this point because a conversation just started about this I will not be able to respond and say whether or not that is going to be considered an essential service."
