The Millennium Challenge Corporation 125 million US dollars grant is no longer in limbo. It was in grave doubt when the Trump Administration took office - but Belize's foreign service has been fighting steadfastly for it to be restored. And, tonight, the news is that those efforts have paid off - they got the grant back, slightly modified, but they got it back. And it will still be going towards the energy and the education sectors. So will the modifications affect the 250 million dollar quantum? Here's what Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca told us today.
Reporter:
"Would the figure remain the same? BZE $250 million."

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs
"Yeah, we don't know. We don't know, that's a part of the discussion. The good news is, yes, that the MCC compact will continue. But the technical again, the technical teams, the MCC team is working along with our team here in Belize, Education and Energy and their team here in Belize to determine exactly what modifications will be made. We don't expect any significant modifications, but I really don't want to get ahead of that discussion that's taking place."
