NGO Senator Chanona lamented the shortage of information around the proposed acquisition and urged the public to do their research and make an informed decision on how GOB's next move can impact the economy.

Janelle Chanona, NGO Senator

"I fervently believe that there are very many questions that need to be addressed. I think certainly from our organization, our members have said we do not have enough information to take a position on this. So we cannot support something if we do not feel like we are making an informed decision."

"You know, what comes next, you know, how, as has been alluded to, what does the playing field look like? How do we make sure that we're safeguarded? And I think this is also represents an opportunity, and I want to underscore the importance of the media on this in terms of the free and independent press, asking the questions, going back to the archives, looking at the legislation, but also to encourage the average citizen. When we want to find out a thing and who is with who, who who where, we know how to do that perfectly well, FBI level, if not better. So how do we make sure that as citizens, it is not weaponized, that the information was available, that the information does exist in places where we can get it and wade through that information so that if that information is not being readily provided, that we can be accountable to ourselves, that we read the legislation, and if we had questions, we raise that with whomever we could have."
