3 days of budget debates ended yesterday with the PM wrapping it up. But before he spoke, the final member of the UDP also gave his speech. And we'd say it was unprecedented - certainly a welcome surprise for the government side.
Cayo West area rep Miguel Guerra opened up his speech by commending the government - and not even acknowledging his fellow opposition members. Here's a snippet of that:

"I want to commend the Government of Belize and all those involved for the hard work put in the preparation of this national budget. Putting together a budget for an entire country is not easy. That requires careful planning and responsibility and that effort is recognized. I want to say I am pleased to see the implementation of the National Health Insurance. This is something that many Belizeans have been waiting for because it has allowed our people to seek medical attention without having to pay large amounts of money."
