Returning to one of our top stories: Were Belize's recently enacted cybercrime laws enacted for the benefit of thin-skinned politicians and public officials? Or are those laws now being weaponized for that purpose? We asked the former Attorney General Mike Peyreffite:

Jules-
"As a former public figure, should you all be able to access these cybercrime laws for insults or mockery or, things said about you all in the public sphere?"

Mike Peyreffite, August's Attorney

"Jules the PUP marched to the streets of Belize City with a picture of me half naked and my beautiful breasts out okay? Did I cry did I sue anybody? Did I try to arrest anybody? That's the name of the game. You're a political figure. You are subject to criticism. You are subject to be made fun of. You are subject to ridicule. That's what the people have. There's an election today, and there's no election for five more years. The least the people can be afforded during that time is their opinion on the performance of the government during that five years. If the people can't see anything, criticize their political leaders, then what are we doing? This is a dictatorship, this is Gestapo, this is Hitler. This is something that we don't know Belize to be and the first rule of politics is that if you are thin skinned, if you are tender, if you are delicate, then politics is not a place for you. You do not belong in that arena I f you cannot take a couple of shots from the public."

Alberto August

"Politics is for big man and big woman. Politics is not for small man, thin skinned, small man. Start grow some skin, mein."
