But is that already tight timeline complicated by the fact that the Prime Minister has pulled back the timeframe for the audit to 2015? His hope is to muddy the water with the sins of the UDP—but how does it complicate the timeline? That's what we asked Rodriguez:
Jaleeza Roberts, Reporter
"Recently at a PUP party event, the Prime Minister said the audit would be going back as far as 2015. Is that accurate? And how much does this complicate your work and intensify your timeline, especially with what you just mentioned to me?"
Maria Rodriguez, Auditor-General - Office of the Auditor-General
"Well, it is a lot of records, a huge volume of records. I think we have received about 13–15 boxes just for the initial scope that we decided to audit. We will focus on the 15–16. However, I did inform that my priority is to find out what happened with the alleged conflict of interest, provide those reports to make sure that proper decision-making is done by this administration."
Jaleeza Roberts
"Do you think that going back as far back into 2015 that it will somewhat come across as watering, trying to water down the situation?"
Maria Rodriguez
"I don't know what's their intent, but we surely have an objective of the audit, and it's to make sure that all regulations were followed regarding procurement, regardless of the fiscal year."
