In front of 8,000 fans at Richardson Stadium in Kingston, Ontario, Belize's national football team played the second game of our "home at home" match with the Canadian National team.
The starting whistle blew just after 5:00 PM Belize time and we followed the game on the Internet. In the first half the Canadians controlled the offensive tempo with at least four shots on goal and one corner to Belize's none in both categories. But from what we've gleaned, Belize's team played aggressive defense, and early in the game Mark Leslie and Orlando Lyons earned yellow cards. In the minute of extra time just before halftime, the first goal was scored by Canada's
Striker Tomasz Radzinski.
The second half started favorably for Belize with two shots on the Canadian goal, one by Victor Morales, and the other, by Oliver Hendricks. Unfortunately both were stopped by the Canadian goalkeeper. Canada scored its second goal in the 63rd minute of play and Belize's Peter Mariano earned his second yellow card so he was disqualified from the match giving Canada the advantage in the number of players on the field.
As we closed our broadcast tonight, the score was 4-0 in favor of Canada and the game was in approximately the 88th minute and nearing completion. Canada's third goal was scored in the 73rd minute by Dwayne de Rosario with a chest shot past Belizean goalkeeper, Shane Moody (Orio). The fourth goal was scored in the 86th minute.
We'll hope to have reaction on the game tomorrow when we try to contact Coach Garrincha Adderley in Canada. You can see the Game 2 statistics yourself by clicking here.
