It's not often that we hear of Belize's participation in martial arts contests but in fact these happen just that they occur below the news radar. Today however we managed to catch a delegation of 13 martial artists that will travel to Panama for the 10th international Shotokan Pan American Shotokan karate championship. Chairman of the Belize Shotokan Karate Association John Nunez spoke to us this afternoon just as the team was ready to leave for Panama City and he said expectations are high and he expects the team to bring home some medals. The team is will participate in the competition between the 14th and 15th of August and are expected back by August 16th.
