Gregory Lovell of Team Santino's AEG was the first across the line this morning at the completion of stage five of the Tour de Belize. At the end of 50 miles, there was a massive sprint and Lovell told the media how he placed first.

Gregory Lovell,
"It was really hard. It wasn't easy and we had a lot of guys elbowing and pushing each other and it was really crazy. When I tried to put myself into position, about twenty guys just went in front of me. It is like shuffling happening at the front. I just positioned myself and rode very aggressive because I know I have legs and I am really strong coming back and I know I can do it. It feels really good man, it shows that I am the best sprinter in Belize and I ride with strong competition, the pro-teams are out here and I showed that I can do it. I have done a lot of work for the team already and I have to give the other guys a chance to go out there and win and do their best because it there are no more flat stages and I have won all the flat stages and those guys have to step up and do their part."

Todd Hancock of Bike America was second and Miguel Perez of the Guatemalan national team was third. But the race had little effect on the overall standings. After five stages Bjorn Anderson of Comfort Air/R&A Cycles/Medina House of Jewellery continues to lead Todd Henrikson of Santinos/AEG Toshiba by 20 seconds. The individual time trial is scheduled for tomorrow. Track the Tour at http://www.tourdebelize.com.
