Tonight we note the passing of one of Belize's sporting greats - Raymond Lashley.
He was a giant of the softball world in Belize, famously managing Belize's Ladies' team to gold at the 1974 Central American games in Santo Domingo and to beat the United States in 1979, at the Pan American games in Puerto Rico,
That is the stuff of myth, not legend, and today, current President of the association Shane Williams remembered Lashley as an astute and unmatched manager:
Lashley was a member of the International Softball Hall of Fame in Florida. He was 80 years old and the father of two children. Reports say he died of a heart attack after a bout of illness.
