Gordon added that the storm activity for this year's hurricane season is a little below average:

"Currently we have had 13 named terms for the season. The normal is 14, so we are below average by one named Storm. The prediction from NOAH was from 13 to I think 19 named storms. So we are within the range. We're at the lower limit of that range in terms of total named storms. If we do not have one developing in November, another one developing, it could be we end up with a slightly below normal season, but as we always say you can see from Jamaica, even though it may be below normal overall in activity, that single Hurricane Melissa was so significant that it's a very active season for them."
