It used to be that you'd save phone cards to someday get a refund for BTL's illegal rates - but tonight there is another reason to save those cards - they may someday become a collector's item - that is, after BTL has collected on them!
A first of its kind special collector's edition phone card features historic photos from the personal collection of Historian Meg Craig. The result? Four unique cards depicting the first swing bridge, the old courthouse, St. Mary's Church, and a Pre-Independence Hall view of Queen Street.
The four cards were launched at a ceremony this afternoon at the Craig Gallery of the Museum of Belize. NICH president Yasser Musa says that by keying in on history - BTL is setting a good example for the rest of corporate Belize.
Yasser Musa, NICH
"We are that they gave us some money, that's the most important thing. And I think that in the future it is a good practice for business to take the responsibility of investing in culture and that's a good example of that and so we encourage this kind of thing because all our programs and activities goes towards projects, like this museum, which benefit young people. So this is a great example of a corporation assisting with something."
Dean Molina, BTL Marketing
"We wanted to move into the collectible arena so we explored options, we did the usual things like animals and so forth so it was a friend of the Craig family who recommended this possibility."
The cards are available in packages containing 4 cards worth $110 for $90 at BTL offices. In return for use of the images, BTL gave NICH one thousand dollars.
