Cop Charged For Human Trafficking

No less than a Police Corporal was busted and has been arrested for trying to smuggle 11 Salvadorans into Belize.

Corporal Portillo Carillo who is attached to the Criminal Investigations Branch in Belize City has been charged under human trafficking laws. Benque Police say that early Saturday morning, Corporal Carillo was one of three men in a white van, which ran through a police checkpoint. A high-speed chase followed all the way to Cahal Pech where the men then fled on foot. Police caught up to them and along with Corporal Carillo, police arrested Roberto Lopez and Edgar Navas. In the white van police found the 11 illegal Salvadorans who are awaiting deportation.
