As promised, new taxes went into effect today and the effect was immediately visible on the shelves. In a replay of what happened on February 1st, there were new prices this morning. As expected, those prices have increased immediately on soft drinks, local beer, and local and imported cigarettes, and local and imported alcohol and spirits. The price change on those 'sin' items vary from 20 to 35% increases. More changes are expected as new shipments come in and the effect of other taxes becomes apparent.
