The battle for BTL moved to a Miami courtroom yesterday and a Miami judge issued a temporary restraining order against the Government of Belize, restraining it from selling any shares of BTL or from making any extraordinary expenses or dividends. The temporary order only lasts until tomorrow when the hearing continues. The government side is led by Fred Lumor while Prosser has retained Lionel Welch. It is expected that both teams, particularly Prosser's side are assisted by U.S. attorneys. Prosser's legal counsel, high powered Washington Attorney Lani Davis is quoted as saying that he believes the government acted illegally when it seized BTL without notice. He adds that Prosser's company expects to repay the government so long as the government lives up to all the promises it made to the U.S. investor.
