Butane prices tumbled by $3 in January but housewives brace yourselves because tomorrow prices will soar by as much as $7. The maximum retail price of a 100-pound cylinder will range from a high of $92 in Benque Viejo to a low of $86 in the city.
Customers in Orange Walk will now pay $87 up from $83. In Belmopan and Dangriga it will be $88 a tank up $7 from $81. Those in Punta Gorda will have to pay $89 up from $83. It will be $91 in San Ignacio up $6 from $85. And in Benque it shoots up $7 from $85 to $92. The Ministry of Energy says the price increases are due to an increase in acquisition costs.
