He had been missing since Tuesday and his family thought that 42-year-old Trial Farm Village resident Carlos Roberto Puerto had mysteriously disappeared. But he didn't: he was in the family well...dead. Puerto's body was found at the bottom of the 10-foot well in the family's yard this morning. Speaking with our affiliate in Orange Walk, Northern Cable Company his niece told us that the first terrible clue came this morning when she picked up a terrible scent.

Deceased's Niece,
"I smell a scent in the house but not actually in the house, I just that scent, and when I follow that scent I went to through used to be a shop and I smelled it stronger. Then I come out of the house and I went to the back and when I to the back I smelt this strong smell and something tell me peep into that hole and when I look, I saw him in there."

Q: _When was the last time you saw your uncle?

Deceased's Niece,
"It was Tuesday night around 10'clock so."

"10 o'clock was not really really the last time we see him because like an hour after that he passed by my house again. We saw him with the bike and then we didn't see the bike. From after 11 o'clock we didn't see him again but we know he likes to go and not come back for three days or things like that."

Police believe that Puerto was walking in the yard on Tuesday night, and that he may have been drunk and simply toppled into the well which had no railing or guard around it.
