Residents on Mahogany and Tibruce Streets were witness to a bizarre crime this afternoon. When our team arrived on the scene at 3:00 pm, we found a Chevy Blazer in the middle of the street after it ran the intersection and was hit by a vehicle heading east on Mahogany Street. Looked like a straightforward fender bender, hardly big news...but area residents told us that they had witnessed a seriously violent encounter.
Though they were afraid to appear on camera, eyewitnesses told us that at 2:30, they saw the blazer heading up Tibruce Street with two men running alongside it. The held on to the windows of the Blazer for 200 yards right until the driver crashed at the Mahogany Street intersection. That's when the two men jumped into the Blazer and started stabbing the driver, described as a young male. He managed to slip away from them, and they set chase after him on foot down Mahogany Street.
What motivated the stabbing? Police couldn't tell us and they have no one in custody.
