GOB's Hefty June Debt Servicing Bill

June's going to be a tough month for government finances. 7NEWS has obtained an internal Ministry of Finance document which shows that government will have to pay $61 million in debt servicing in June. That is led by a $37.9 million payment due to Solomon Smith and Barney on June 2nd. Where will government find all this money? Well its monthly revenue is only about $35 million and it still has to pay salaries out of that, so it appears government has to find that money and quickly. That urgency tell us that's why GOB is so eager to close the BTL deal, a sale which will yield about US$40 million.
