Two of America's most wanted will be heading home this week on one-way tickets to jail.
The first is convicted murderer and pedophile 40-year-old Paul Nathan Linney who is wanted in the U.S. for parole violations. Linney got in the crosshairs of local police in San Pedro on April 24th when a businesswoman claims that Linney made a key for her business and was using it to steal liquor, cigarettes, and other items from it. Those charges were eventually dropped because of a technicality with the date. Linney remained in police custody after a check with Interpol showed that he was a fugitive. Linney had previously been convicted of murder. He is also a registered sex offender on parole. He violated that parole when he left the jurisdiction and came to Belize. Once is returned to Texas, Linney will likely face 20 years for the violation.
And then there is 49-year-old Michael Mendenhall who is wanted in Florida to stand trial for attempted murder. Mendenhall came into contact with local police when he verbally assaulted a store manager out on San Pedro after the store refused to accept his credit card. For that incident Mendenhall was arrested and charged for using indecent words and obtaining property by deception. In his case a check with Interpol showed that he fled U.S. jurisdiction before he could stand charges for attempted murder. Once extradited he will stand trial.
A U.S. embassy official said both men were here illegally.
