He was linked to money laundering by Panamanian authorities, but in Belize, Moises Cal is a licensed moneylender.
This notice in today's Amandala says that Cal is applying for a moneylender's certificate for a business called "Capital Jewel Quick Loan" in Belmopan. It's a cute little item but hardly much more because under the Money Lender's Act, a licensed lender is not authorized to take deposits and is only licensed to lend money.
We are told that it's a small pawn shop type business that Cal has owned for a time.
