They are regarded as one of the greatest vocal groups in the history of soul and R&B music, and tonight The Manhattans are in Belize preparing for a mother's day concert. They made their biggest hits in the 70's with songs such as the "Shining Star" and "Let's just kiss and say goodbye." Sure, their heyday has passed, but after four decades of sweet soul music, the group says that good love songs are just timeless.

Sonnmy Bivins, The Manhattans
"We were told that the people here in Belize love our music and we appreciate that. We are right now to show you and let you see and hear the Manhattans."

Alvin Pazant, The Manhattans
"Music is one of the things that transcends time. Many people consider music a reflection of the times that we live in but in many cases it is not that. Music is a universal language which expresses the way we think and feel. The Manhattans was all about expressing the way people felt and music that people could relate to; love songs and ballads and these were the things that transcended time. No matter how the hop-hoppers or anybody come out, everybody still loves to be loved and everybody likes love."

Lee Williams, The Manhattans
"The Manhattans is like that. When they get songs it is songs that linger on, that never die and this is what we are giving to them today to remind them of things that they still think about. See the songs that the Manhattans have, it is like a part of you and all you have to do is reach out and touch it, hold it in your hand."

Charles Hardy, The Manhattans
"The Manhattans, their songs always basically are group oriented songs like where I came from we were quartets so I just loved that sound but definitely dealing with these legends is something, its just something."

The Manhattans play tomorrow night at the House of Culture.
