Flour prices increased last month but the good news is that the price of bread won’t – at least not now. The flour increase was 20% but a release from the Bakers’ Association says they chose not to increase their prices out of concern for their customers. That is the good news, the bad is that the bakers will monitor the price of flour and other inputs such as shortening and butane. And the bakers note that with those on the rise, a price increase is inevitable. They of course don’t know when.

Information is to 7NEWS is that the bakers proposed to increase the price of a pack bread from $1.50 to $1.75. An influential baker however favored a slighter increase, from $1.50 to $1.65. But no unanimous decision was reached and so there is no increase – for now.
