The Central Bank of Belize wrote to the Belize Bank on Friday March 14th directing it first, to refund the US$10 million from the Venezuelans, and second, to provide documentation about the US$10 million from the Taiwanese. Both were used to pay off the indebtedness that government guaranteed for Universal Health Services. In a statement, the Belize Bank has called both directives unlawful and void.

But we’ll know soon enough. 7NEWS has learned that the bank has 10 days from March 14th to comply or be liable for what Central Bank release says is a criminal offence. Whether that’s 10 working days or 10 calendar days is unclear, but by next week, we should know one way or the other.
