And while the electricity rate is fixed for the time being, can’t say the same for gas – that’s going up, up, up. Tomorrow the prices will soar to the highest price on record. A gallon of premium will cost 59 cents more – jumping from $10 to $10.59 a gallon. Regular will jump the $10 mark– from $9.90 to $10.45. And diesel jumps 52 cents from $9.08 to $9.61. Kerosene will pass the $9 mark – soaring 78 cents – from $8.94 to $9.72.

The new prices don’t come into effect until midnight but Keith Swift broke the news to drivers this afternoon. Here’s the reaction.

Driver #1,
“That means I won’t be able to even drive my own vehicle. I will have to stick to my bicycle. It will be 50 cents more? That is too much money. I will hold on to my bike better. It won’t really affect me because I am already used to my two bicycle. My truck can stay home parked.”

Driver #2,
“Its hard but we have to do it because we need the vehicle to move around, especially those of us who live in the rural areas...I have to take my vehicle to work and then from there I will park it. I will driving less.”

Driver #3,
“That is ridiculous mein, we are poor people. We are just trying to hustle and try to work on our end. That is a lot of money. I can’t afford that. I will have to haul out the bicycle.”

Driver #4,
“Right now man I don’t know, poor people are feeling it right now and we just have to deal with it and get over it. What will I do different? I will park my car and ride bicycle. Park the car and ride bike.”

Driver #5,
“The price is going up very high but if you need it, you have to get it.”

The release from government says it had to pass on these increases as the revenue replacement duty on diesel and kerosene has been removed – and the revenue replacement duty on gasoline is the lowest it has been in over 10 years. Globally, oil prices are at their own record high, with the price for a barrel of crude oil hovering around $120.
